ABOUT

 

Learn to identify and forage for wild plants and fungi in Pichilemu, Chile. Discover how to forage for edibles safely and sustainably, whilst also learning about the specific adaptations of local plants and wildlife.

 This is an opportunity to become more in tune with nature!

 

 

FORAGING AND WILDERNESS TOUR

– Pick up from your hotel at 8.30 am (or a little later, if that suits you), by car or on foot, depending on location.

– Upon arrival, guests are equipped with foraging equipment & binoculars and we set off on foot, first learning about the plant characteristics and adaptations inside the sclerophyllous forest environment.

– During the walking circuit, which lasts roughly 2 hrs, we stop many times to look at specific plants, their edibility and uses. In the winter months of May and June, we can also learn to identify and gather wild mushrooms.

– Foraging: During the tour, we taste and/or collect the leaves, seeds, berries or fruit of local plants, subject to the season and availability.

– Towards the end of the tour, we enjoy a foraged herbal tea with a Chilean pastry.

– You are dropped back to your hotel by 10.30-11.00 am.

WILD FOOD COOKING CLASS

The foraged harvest is taken back and combined with local Chilean ingredients at our house to make a tasty foraged dinner. In this cooking class, we prepare a range of leaves, seeds, fungi or fruit -depending on their seasonal availability- into delicious concoctions.
